Taking the advice given to me by my lecturers during the group tutorials, I have taken a step back from painting and began exploring drawing. I plan to take these drawings forward to inspire future paintings.

The aim in this project is to convey my theme through disturbing drawing and paintings, in these more recent works I concentrated the atmosphere created. I did this through the subject matter but also through the colour palette and medium I used.

The colour graphite drawings offered a unique, dark and low contrast effect, I would be interested to try emulate this aesthetic in paint. The oil pastel drawing was more vibrant while still conveying the gruesome atmosphere intended. Moving forward I will also try to emulate this colour palette with paint.

I experimented working from both dark and light backgrounds. These experiments have inspired an idea to paint from a dark background, I will explore different methods of doing this. ink wash, dark paper or even a thin layer of mid-tone paint as a bottom layer.
