I have begun focusing on the way I have treated my immediate environment rather than how the human race has treated the planet earth. searching for different ways to capture my state of mind reflected in the source material.
below and above you can see a combination of oil pastel and collage reactions to the concept.
With this concept (pictured below) I have experimented with a more conceptual method. Inspired by the chaotic pile of miscellaneous items strewn on my bed, I layered the words Lazy, messy, and dirty on a clean white board using a variety of mark making tools. shoe polish markers, paint brushes, and tipex markers filled with ink where the main mark making tools used.
The markers began to clean erase eachother and layer to create a visual representation of the feeling created by my messy bed.
Here are some developments from my initial oil pastel sketch, combining the ink used in the conceptual concept work. using cooler colours and emphasizing the dramatic lighting, I feel my depiction of the overflowing washing basket has a greater effect, and expresses the feelings I am trying to convey more effectively. The ink wash works perfectly to as a base layer, and gives the walls a cold and bare look.
