Conceptual Development

A way in which I can push this sandpit concept further is to experiment with the the environment the work inhabits. Through changing the surroundings of the piece, the taboos present in galleries (such as not being allowed to touch a piece of work) are no longer prevalent. The piece no longer has an owner, and now belongs to the public. This change in domain aims to further entice the viewer to interact, and allows the work to be available to everyone.

Opening up the work to a larger audience could prove interesting, but also opens the concept up for failure. The possibility that someone will vandalise the piece is high. This said vandalism is still interaction, and an upturned sandpit has in my eyes a pleasing aesthetic, that is also weighted with meaning.

This project has opened up to me another way to exhibit work, i would be interested to furter experiment with ‘streetart’, from a more fine art’s perspective.
